All summer I've been laboriously carving out timbers for a timber-frame shed. Why? Because I want a workshop with style.
It's entirely possible that the next owner of this place will promptly tear it down to build a monster house with no garden, which is the current fashion, but that does not matter. Well-meaning friends ask why I don't just buy an off-the-shelf backyard shed at my local big-box store, but since the existing sheds in both my, and my neighbour's yard, which were built exactly that way, are already falling apart, I'd rather assume I'm going to be here for a while and that I won't have the resources 10 years from now to just buy a new shed.
Besides, don't those medieval timber-frame buildings look really awesome?
That will be my workshop.
